Help is There At Last for Businesses

The State of Connecticut has flip-flopped over the years as to whether and how much it will assist businesses in moving, or growing, within the State.  Now that it's abundantly clear that other states are trying to poach our industry, our governmental bodies have gotten more liberal, once again, on providing help.

There was a report just recently about a pharma company that is receiving State aid for relocating from Wallingford to Branford.  In the past, there was often the presumption that we shouldn't get involved in tugs of war within the State.  Apparently, that's not true right now.

We have heard many reports of businesspeople who have responded to offers from other regions of the country, and left Connecticut for good, or at least agreed to do all their expansion elsewhere.  Just right now, it's worth checking with the Department of Economic and Community Development, before assuming that another offer will be better.  We know lots of economic development professionals, and part of our job is to help businesses think through their options.  And now we know that one of those options is to get monetary aid in order to stay here.  So check it out!
